A customized orthotic device or shoe insert is taken from a cast impression in the office. Orthotics are prescribed for an array of problems. There are many different types of orthotics which are prescribed depending on foot type, shoe gear, activity level, and diagnosis. The goal of the orthotic devices are to control abnormal mechanics of the foot, support, and cushion thus eliminating pain. Orthotics are also prescribed for knee, hip, and back pain by realigning the lower extremities.
